The Division Student Affairs' Centre for Student Counselling and Development’s Unit for Academic Counselling and Development presents a series of work sessions, aimed at equipping you with skills to reach your academic potential. The series includes:
i-Kit:
Our i-Kit work session is aimed at creating awareness of your current
study strategies and abilities, in order to obtain the skills and
knowledge to adjust, enhance and improve them. Be empowered with a set
of skills that help you to critically look at the way you study and how
it can be improved to achieve your academic potential.
i-App:
Our i-App work session is a mediated self-reflection experience
focussed on promoting self-management skills. Be empowered to identify
your personal areas of growth. Set your personal and academic goals. Be
guided in promoting your health and well-being. The concept of
meta-cognition is also explored and applied to effective study
techniques, healthy time management and coping skills.
Reading:
Our Reading workshop, in collaboration with the Language Centre, to
address your reading issues and develop a reading strategy that will
lead to academic success. Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the
academic demands of your degree programme? Are you struggling to grasp
your learning material and read effectively? Join the three sessions of
the reading workshop to address your reading issues and develop a
reading strategy that will lead to academic success.
i-Tick:
Our i-Tick work session is aimed at enabling you to become aware of
your current time management strategies and to obtain the skills and
knowledge to adjust, enhance and improve them. Be empowered with a set
of skills that help you to critically look at the way you manage your
time and how it can be improved to achieve your academic potential.
i-Steer:
Our i-Steer work session is a facilitated learning experience focussed
on promoting stress management skills. After this work session, you will
be able to understand the biological response to stress, identify the
physical, emotional, mental and behavioural symptoms of stress in your
life, learn how to make meaning of your body's stress response, practice
strategies to utilise stress optimally and recognise when to seek
therapeutic support.
i-Prep: Our i-Prep work
session aimed at helping you to prepare for the exams. After this work
session, you will know more about the different memory techniques, be
able to prioritise various tasks during the exam period and be more
effective in preparing for the exams before the date, manage yourself
better during the exam and utilise coping skills after you have written
the exam.

General information about the work sessions:
- The work sessions are free of charge.
- If a theme consists of more than one work session, all the sessions must be attended to complete the series.
- Bookings can be made at 39 Victoria Street or via email at studysuccess@sun.ac.za.
- All work sessions take place at Den Bosch, 39 Victoria Street, Stellenbosch.
After

schedule an individual follow-up appointment with us.
