The Tygerberg Doctoral Office provides comprehensive support for doctoral studies in the SU Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences - from the point of departmental selection up to examination. The office also administers the examination of full research (100%) masters theses; facilitates the Pre-Doctoral Short Course; and provides a faculty contact point for consolidocs, postdoctoral fellows, and their hosts. Our PhD support pages contain detailed information on the different steps of the doctoral journey. A brief overview of these resources is available for download in brochure format. The detailed regulations that apply to doctoral students are captured in the Stellenbosch University Calendar (Part 1 - General) as well as the FMHS Faculty Calendar (Part 12 of the SU Calendar).
Students completing a Research (100%) Master’s Degree in the FMHS will submit a thesis for examination via the Tygerberg Doctoral Office. Send Ms Nicoline Cockrell (tyg-thesis@sun.ac.za) a single mail with all three PDF attachments: the approved thesis, Turnitin report, and signed release form.
