The Faculty had a significant social impact in 2016 by realising innovative and value-driven principles and academic excellence. It was a year that saw the presentation of two brand new courses, the launch of a top student project, the alignment of the Faculty's language plan to the SU's new language policy, the awarding of a record number of PhD-degrees, and the appointment of the new Vice-Dean: Social Impact and Transformation, Professor Pregala Pillay. Repairs to the Van der Sterr building following the fire in 2015 also gave us the opportunity to increase the capacity of lecture halls and office space significantly.
