Luckmore Chivandire (Research and Administrative Assistant)

Luckmore Chivandire, a Zimbabwean national, holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the National University of Science and Technology (Zimbabwe). He currently serves as the Research and Administrative Assistant at ACCERUS.

With over 12 years of professional research experience, he has conducted research consultancy for various organisations in Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zambia. Chivandire has authored several articles covering topics such as pension fund management, financial inclusion, health, and corruption. The issue of corruption holds a special place in his heart, and it is a subject he is deeply passionate about.

During his search for a suitable institution to pursue his PhD, Chivandire encountered ACCERUS publications that captivated his interest. Impressed by the quality and depth of these publications, Chivandire was convinced that ACCERUS was the ideal institution to help him advance his research interests. His PhD thesis adopts the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) technique to analyse the effectiveness of anti-corruption strategies in the Zimbabwean and South African healthcare systems.

Kudzai Chitunhu (Third-year PhD candidate)

Kudzai Chitunhu is an emerging scholar from Zimbabwe, pursuing her PhD at Stellenbosch University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Finance and Investment from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe.

Her academic journey reflects a strong foundation in economics and financial studies. The selection of ACCERUS at Stellenbosch University for her PhD is driven by its distinguished academic reputation, provision of expert supervision and commitment to interdisciplinary methodologies.

Furthermore, the alignment of ACCERUS’ corruption-related research with Chitunhu’s focus on the role of media in combating corruption reinforces the strategic nature of her academic choice. Kudzai’s research areas include social security, corruption, poverty and sustainable development.

Mofihli Teleki (Third-year PhD candidate)

Mofihli Teleki holds a BA (UNISA), BPA (Hons) (Stellenbosch), MPA (cum laude) (Public Policy Analysis) (Stellenbosch) and is currently reading for a PhD at the School of Public Leadership, Stellenbosch University.

Teleki is also a graduate of the Thabo Mbeki School of Public and International Affairs (University of South Africa) where he studied Thought Leadership and Good Governance. Teleki is a former committee member of UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sub-Committee in South Africa and is also a former Fellow of the Mellon Foundation’s Ubuntu Fellowship (2018). This is an initiative undertaken by Michigan State University (United States) and Stellenbosch University.

Teleki works at the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (South Africa), where he is a Director for Stakeholder Relations and Communication at the Black Economic Empowerment Commission – a regulator responsible for fostering economic transformation in South Africa. He has authored (and co-authored) over 10 peer-reviewed book chapters and articles that have been published in internationally accredited journals and publications. He has presented academic papers at South African universities, in Cameroon, China and Canada. His research interests include, the right to development, public policy, governance, human rights and gender equality.

Sara Tawfik Hamouda (Second-year PhD candidate)

Sara Hamouda has 12 years of professional experience in the international cooperation and development field. Currently, she works for the African Union Secretariat for Peer Review Mechanism as an officer in charge of the agenda 2063/SDGs continental governance program as well as the South-South Cooperation Portfolio, based in Johannesburg South Africa. Earlier, she worked for the Cabinet of the Minister of International Cooperation in Egypt as Senior Economic Researcher in charge of cooperation with Arab and Regional Funding Institutions and China, and as a professional trainee at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. Hamouda contributes to various publications pertinent to governance, SDGs and Agenda 2063 progress in Africa.

She holds two master’s degrees: A Master of Arts in International Development from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, and a Master of Management (Governance) from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. She also has a Diploma in Peace promotion and disarmament from the University for Peace and Vienna Centre for Disarmament, and a Bachelor’s in Political Sciences from the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University. She’s an Expert of Moibrahim panel of Governance Index and also recognised as amongst the TOP 50 influential women in Egypt for Leadership and Community service under the Auspices of the Prime Minister's Cabinet.
