The role of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Professional Board of Psychology is to regulate and ensure the sufficient training of psychology interns and ensure that practitioners are adequately prepared to practice when applying for registration as psychologists.

Statutory registration with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist (Independent Practice) is possible after the completion of the MCom (Industrial Psychology), 12-month board-approved internship and successful board examination.

Statutory registration with the HPCSA as Psychometrist (Independent Practice) is possible after successful completion of the BPsych Equivalence programme, 6-month board-approved internship and successful board examination.

SIOPSA is a member-based, non-profit organisation established to enhance the Industrial and Organisational Psychology profession in South Africa.

SABPP logo

The South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) is the professional body for HR practitioners in South Africa, as well as quality assurance body for HR learning provision. SABPP also accredits the HR academic programs of universities. Students have the opportunity to join the SABPP as a student member.
