Welcome to Stellenbosch University

Department of Medicine

 Division of Infectious Diseases

The Division is part of the Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Stellenbosch University, Tygerberg Campus and a founding member of the Stellenbosch University Centre for Infectious Diseases (CID). Our outpatient services are based at the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Tygerberg Hospital. We have a standard HIV antiretroviral rollout clinic including PMTCT, a clinic for complicated infectious diseases problems (including viral hepatitis and HIV co-infection, HIV and TB co-infection and HIV associated renal diseases), and a dedicated clinic for primary immunodeficiencies. Inpatient services include antibiotic control and clinical ID consults to all departments in Tygerberg Hospital. We have an active ID outreach service to the towns of Paarl, Worcester, Eersterivier and Somerset-West. We are actively involved in pre and postgraduate teaching in Infectious Diseases.
