Joining us today to share a bit more is Jaco Brink, Head of the Equality Unit within the Centre for Student Counselling and Development at Student Affairs. "

South Africa accounts for a third of all new HIV infections in southern Africa [2] and in 2017, there were 270,000 new HIV infections and 110,000 South Africans died from AIDS-related illnesses [3].

The Equality Unit, within the Centre for Student Counselling and Development, at Student Affairs is hosting its annual HIV screening campaign this week, called 'First Things First'. HOPE Hike HOPE Bike

"Depression is a flaw in chemistry, not character. Depression is not about 'feeling down' and will not disappear by 'just pulling yourself together'. It is a biological illness and as with other medical conditions, it requires treatment. Joining us today to tell a bit more about this event is Bevan Mandy, the prim of Oude Molen."

World Mental Health Day

"Adolescence and the early years of adulthood are a time of life when many changes occur. For many, these are exciting times, but they can also be times of stress and apprehension. In some cases, if not recognised and managed, these feelings can lead to mental health issues. Today is 10 October 2018 and it is World Mental Health Day, so let's explore the topic a bit. Joining us in studio to talk about mental health is Elmarie Kruger, a senior counselling  psychologist at the Centre for Student Counselling and Development in the Division Student Affairs."

Taking off the Masks

"It is hard enough to deal with challenges like anxiety or losing someone close to you, but feeling that you have to hide what you are going through can be an unnecessary burden and prevent you from seeking help. Joining us today to give more information about this initiative is Liani Joubert, a clinical psychologist in the Centre for Student Counselling and Development at Student Affairs."
