Abstract Submission Guidelines for ICMG24 Conference
We welcome both online and in-person participants to submit abstracts for paper or book chapter consideration across our conference publication outlets. Please follow the steps outlined below to ensure your submission is processed correctly:
- Template Use: For submitting your abstract, download and use the provided MS Word template (find below). This template is designed to ensure that all submissions adhere to our formatting standards.
- Submission: After completing your conference registration, please send your abstract to Evert Kleynhans at kleynhans@sun.ac.za. Your registration must be completed before submitting your abstract to ensure eligibility.
- Deadline: The final date to submit your abstract is 17 May 2024. We encourage early submissions to facilitate timely feedback and revision processes.
Publication Process:
- Abstract Review: All submitted abstracts will undergo a review process. Once revised based on reviewer feedback, accepted abstracts will be included in the ICMG24 Abstract Proceedings.
- Expression of Interest: Authors of accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to express interest in further developing their abstracts into full journal papers or book chapters for one of our conference publications:
- Springer Volume
- African SUN MeDIA
- Scientia Military Special Edition
Full Submission Review: All submitted full papers or chapters will undergo a double-blind peer review. Detailed information about the manuscript submission process, including guidelines, is provided below.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines for ICMG24 Conference
We invite members who have registered for the International Conferences on Military Geosciences 2024 (ICMG24) and submitted an abstract for presentation to submit their manuscripts for potential publication in one of the conference series publications outlined above.
Review Process:
Each submission will be subjected to a rigorous double-blind peer review process, evaluating the manuscript's quality and its contribution to the scientific field. The successful publication will depend on receiving favourable feedback through this review process.
Key Submission Details:
- Deadline: Manuscripts must be submitted by 31 August 2024.
- Format: Please utilise the MS Word template provided below for your manuscript. Submissions must strictly follow the provided guidelines to ensure consistency across all publications.
- Length: Manuscripts are limited to 15 pages (A4 size), including abstracts, figures, tables, and references.
- Font: Please use Times New Roman, 12 points.
- Submission: Submit your manuscript in electronic form (MS Word), adhering to the formatting and style guidelines detailed in the template, to Evert Kleynhans at kleynhans@sun.ac.za.
- Publication date: Publications are expected to be released in 2025.
We strongly recommend having your manuscript language-edited before submission to ensure clarity and a professional standard. The ICMG24 scientific committee will exclude any paper that fails to meet the required standards or follow the guidelines.
