The Centre for Military Studies (CEMIS) from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and
the Africa Research Institute from Óbuda University (Hungary), and in partnership with
the Africa Aerospace and Defence Expo (AAD2024) invite papers for the conference.
THEME: “Counter-Terrorism and the Future Role of Global Powers in
the Rapidly Changing African Environment”
Proposals for papers are hereby invited from interested researchers, scholars, practitioners and
policy-makers in the defence and security fields for the upcoming conference that will be held on 19
September 2024, with the following sub-themes:
• Panel 1: Human security perspective
• Panel 2: Socio-economic development
• Panel 3: Technology and cyber-security
• Panel 4: Leadership and corporate governance

Guidelines
The length of the abstract should be about 250-350 words. Contributors are requested to include a
short bio, highlighting their name, surname, contact details as well as affiliation. All submissions to
be sent to this email address: cemis@sun.ac.za
Conference Proceedings
All the papers delivered at the conference will be considered for publication in any of the following
peer-reviewed journals when passing the review process: Defence Innovation and Management in
Africa (DIMA) journal; Journal of Central and Eastern European African Studies (JCEAS); and
Scientia Militaria journal.
