Post Basic Midwifery Certificate Ceremony 2019
The Department of Nursing and Midwifery held a Certificate Ceremony to commemorate the achievement of the 2019 Post Basic Midwifery Programme students on the 2nd of December 2019.
The theme for the ceremony was, 'Quality Midwifery care'. The academic procession was welcomed in with the singing of the Midwives song led by the master of ceremony, Prof D. Kaura. The keynote address was provided by Prof. E. Stellenberg. Two students gave a reflection of their theory and clinical experiences within the Post Basic Midwifery programme.
Certificates were presented to forty graduates by Prof. P. Jordan and the coordinator of the Post Basic Midwifery programme, Mrs. A. Robertson. Seven graduates had achieved cum laude. The graduates had completed the short courses in Foundations of Midwifery and Maternal Health Care. The completion of these two short courses allow for registration as a Midwife with the South African Nursing Council.
The ceremony was attended by lecturers and administrative clerks from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, representatives from the Department of Health as well as family and friends of the graduates.
