Anatomy is one of the oldest medical disciplines and deals with the structure (macro- and microscopic) of living organisms. In South Africa, the utilisation of human material falls under the legal and statutory requirements of the National Health Act of 2003 and as such is very stringently controlled.

Clinical Anatomy is involved in the training of undergraduate students in all disciplines at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) as well as postgraduate students.
