An invitation to engage!

The CSLEEC’s Midday Knowledge Series forms part of the FVZS Institute's critical engagement portfolio. The platform has been created for both students and staff in the Division of Student Affairs (DSAf) to engage on themes that are of topical interest, relate to and are relevant to work in the broader higher education sphere. This webinar series was initiated in 2019 and replaced the FVZS Institute’s Monthly Book Club discussions. For these sessions, the FVZS Institute team connects with professionals across various fields who inspire the DSAf’s work.

Our theme for 2022 is Inspirational Leadership. The sessions we have hosted for 2022 are summarised below. These sessions, as well as the 2021 sessions, are available on our podcast channel; please click here to access them.

  1. February – Inspirational Leadership: Enhancing the potential of those you lead in a way that works for them. Shibu Mamobolo, Head of Employee Wellness, gave our staff a presentation on how to take care of one’s self during uncertain times, balancing life and work. She also presented the resources available to assist University staff.

  2. March – Human Rights Month: Inspirational leadership through a social justice lens. Siseko Kumalo, one of the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans, presented on the theme ‘Just Student Support frameworks in the South African University’. It spoke to the support that staff can offer students in an unequal society to help them developing holistically into adults.
