About Aristea

Aristea CSC, established in 1973, is the oldest women's CSC on campus. With its rich history, it carries a legacy of powerful leaders and women of mind and heart. Known for its vibrant, fun, and dynamic community, Aristea offers an irreplaceable experience that is widely recognised throughout Stellenbosch University.

Aristea is not a space where members are expected to conform to a mould. Instead, it encourages individuality, celebrates differences, and fosters a culture of mutual support. With its proud heritage, Aristea continues to build on its legacy and looks forward to many more years of empowering women.

Aristea is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and promoting personal development through continuous learning and appreciation for its members. The organisation embraces values-driven leadership, emphasising mutual accountability and a commitment to upholding the values of both the house and the broader community.

Aristea's Values are:

Approachability
Respect
Responsibility
Integrity
Individuality

Vision, Mission, and Values

Mentor Programme

Each year, Aristea selects dedicated mentors from its senior group to guide newcomers during their first year. These mentors play a vital role in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment, particularly during welcoming week. The growth and development of members in all areas of their lives remain a top priority for Aristea.

Aristea offers a variety of opportunities for members to grow, connect, and thrive across different areas:

Academics: Mentor sessions and Wimbledon Cluster study groups to support academic success.

Culture: Engage in Molassesêr (informal a cappella performance), Debating, and Culture Evenings that celebrate creativity and expression.

Sport: Participate in Hockey, Netball, and Table Tennis, fostering teamwork and a healthy lifestyle.

Leadership Development: Opportunities include serving on the House Committee, Newcomers Committee, Mentor and Seniors Forum, Social Impact Club, Marketing Committee, and Events Committees (such as House Dance).

Community and Clubs: Join clubs like the Book Club, Cooking Club, and Hiking Club, or connect with peers through Seniors activities.
