Postgraduate Diploma in Medicines Development- PG Dip      (Med Dev)

This 2-year, part-time course is offered by the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine at the Stellenbosch University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. It aims to equip students with a thorough understanding and knowledge of medicines development and the principles of drug discovery, clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical development (CMC), non-clinical safety testing, the planning and execution of clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, statistics and data management, regulatory affairs, ethics, as well as pharmacovigilance, pharmaceutical marketing and economics of health care.

The programme consists of 6 modules. The modular format and course structure (i.e. 4 days every quarter) were specifically adopted to accommodate part-time students and those out of town.

More than 20 experienced lecturers from the University and from other local or international institutions contribute to the programme.

The programme has been accredited by Stellenbosch University, the Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education. It has received recognition as Centre of Excellence by the EU IMI initiative PharmaTrain and is member of the PharmaTrain Federation.
