Division of Nuclear Medicine
The division of Nuclear Medicine of Stellenbosch University and the Tygerberg Hospital is one of the busiest and largest in the country. It boasts a team of dedicated professionals, modern equipment, cutting-edge research and invaluable association with experts internationally. On 19 April 2012 the Western Cape Academic PET/CT Centre was officially opened. The facility is situated on the western side of the Gene Louw building. The PET/CT scanner was donated by NTP Radio isotopes (a subsidiary of the South African Nuclear Energy corporation). The Western Cape Department of Health contributed to the building, infrastructure and ancillary equipment.
