Division of Neurosurgery

Clinical Service

The clinical service essentially is run from the Tygerberg Academic hospital. The division provides a comprehensive general Neurosurgical service.

Highly specialized services include:

• Cranio-facial Surgery as a part of the Cranio-facial unit that is run under the headship of Prof S Al-Benna (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) 
• Pituitary Surgery in conjunction with the Neuro-endocrine unit of Prof S Hough and also with ENT surgery (Dr G Kroukamp)
• Neuro-endoscopy.

Weekly/Monthly meeting with other role players include:

• Neuroradiology meetings weekly
• Neuro-endocrine meetings monthly
• Neuro-onlogy meetings monthly
• Cranio-facial meetings monthly
• Morbidity and Mortality meetings weekly
• Neuropathology/ Forensic neuropathology head injury meetings monthly
