Launch- 18 May 2018

The Division of Medical Ethics and Law hosted a diner symposium on the 18th of May 2018 at Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers in Century City to launch an Interactive online community engagement tool, which introduces learners and adults to HIV Cure concepts and research. The Interactive online tool, forms part of a comprehensive community engagement strategy aimed at raising awareness about HIV cure research and treatment and prevention strategies. Forty teachers, education administrators and medical practitioners working at a number of infectious diseases clinics throughout Cape Town attended the event. Dr Farah Cassim (DMEL), co-creator of the tool, briefly introduced the audience to the content, while Prof Stuart Rennie (UNC), DMEL international collaborator, gave a brief overview of HIV cure research at UNC. The tool was enthusiastically received by the audience with many requesting access so that it can be used in their institutions.
