Learning and Teaching
The Division of Occupational Therapy is committed to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning. We work closely with the Centre for Health Professions Education and the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Stellenbosch University to develop innovative teaching and learning strategies in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Feedback from students is invited through termly class meetings and ongoing research.
Two programmes are offered at undergraduate level at Stellenbosch University (SU): a mainstream programme and an extended degree programme (EDP). These programmes are South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited.
The purpose of the undergraduate programme is to train a physiotherapist who will be able to qualify for registration with the statutory Health Professions Council of South Africa. This physiotherapist will have acquired the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes to function within the South African health care context as a reflective practitioner within the philosophy and values inherent to the physiotherapy profession.
