We aim to make Karl Bremer Hospital the most cost effective District Referral Hospital within the financial means of the Province of the Western Cape and to ensure good patient care to all the people in our community, by means of trained and motivated personnel.
Karl Bremer Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in the Western Cape and celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2006. The hospital is situated next to the N1 highway and is accessible from all the major transport routes. This provincial hospital provides high quality healthcare, for both the private (belonging to a medical scheme and the private paying patients) as well as the Government-subsidised patients. Quality healthcare is provided with a holistic approach. The hospital was accredited as a Baby Friendly Hospital in 2005 and has a ward for Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).
According to the Comprehensive Service Plan (CSP), the hospital is presently in the process of changing into a District Hospital. Clinical teams will be lead by experienced general practitioners with specialist outreach from Tygerberg Hospital.
Population served
The change to a District Hospital will take place over the next two years (2009-2010). The hospital drainage area will also eventually change from the Northern Panorama and Eastern Khayelitsha Sub-Districts to the Northern Panorama and Tygerberg Sub-Districts.
