Hierdie beurse is beperk tot sekere vakgebiede en stel klein bedrae aan net 'n paar uitgesoekte studente beskikbaar. Die beurse word slegs toegestaan indien daar geld beskikbaar is. Wanneer die privaat beurse toegeken word, kry Suid-Afrikaanse burgers met die hoogste studievlak (graadprogram) en die beste punte voorkeur, tensy daar anders aangedui word. Sekere departemente, veral dié op die gebied van wetenskap en tegnologie, gebruik hulle eie departementele begrotings om finansiële bystand aan uitgesoekte studente te voorsien.

Criteria of award
Good moral values, positive post-matric leadership in the following fields: sport, cultural, academics, religion etc. Although not a requirement for the award, the University will give preference to applicants who, in addition to the stipulated conditions, obtained a good academic record in their previous degree/studies.
Two testimonials verifying the criteria must accompany the application form. A CV should also accompany the application.
In order to comply with the requirements, the applicant needs to state 3 outstanding achievements in at least 2 of the following leadership categories, i.e. participation in SU student leadership structures, sport, participation in cultural activities/community involvement or leadership roles in religion.
