Dear prospective Matie
We are excited to host you on Saturday, 6 May 2023 at the on-campus open day!
What makes the Stellenbosch University (SU) Open Day 2023 different from previous open days?
- The on-campus activities will give prospective Maties a chance to view the faculty buildings, explore exciting topics and get a sense of what studying at SU entails.
- You will have the opportunity to engage with experts and some of the most prominent researchers in their fields when you visit the faculty exhibitions at the various buildings.
- Our residences will be open for viewing and the Commuter Student Organisation team looks forward to meeting you on the Rooiplein.
- Some private accommodation service providers and institutions will also be joining us and can't wait to meet with you on the Rooiplein.
- Our open-day website will remain active until 31 July, when undergraduate study applications close. The site provides answers to any general questions you may have: https://blogs.sun.ac.za/open-day/
Where can I access the programme for the day?

- Here you will have the opportunity to talk to student ambassadors and take some selfies.
- Get your general questions answered and direction/assistance for the day.
- You can collect a minimum admissions requirement booklet to get an overview of all the programmes we offer and what their requirements are.
- Take event selfies and share them by tagging us on Facebook @stellenboschuniversity and Instagram @stellenboschuni using #whoyoubecome - you can win a Maties hamper!
Visit the Neelsie Student Centre and have a look at the latest Maties fashion in the Matie Shop or grab a coffee and something to eat.
Where do I find refreshments and SU souvenirs?

How do I arrange universal access?
We'll gladly provide universal access to guests with mobility challenges who need parking close to faculty venues. Please inform us ahead of time by sending an email to events@sun.ac.za.
How do the tickets work?
- Please print your tickets prior to arrival or save them as screenshots on your cellphone to allow for easy access. (We have made updates to the ticketing system and would advise that you redownload it.)
- PLEASE cancel any tickets you will not be using well in advance to afford other guests the opportunity to attend the session.
What can I expect on the day?
Please take some time to prepare for your arrival on campus. Keep the following important information in mind:
Getting around campus
- Please save the following link to the interactive map of the Stellenbosch Campus (you can also print a copy of the map from the last four pages of the open day guide): https://campusmap.sun.ac.za/
- This document contains a summary of the buildings that we will be using.
Parking
Stellenbosch:
- All the security booms at our on-campus parking areas will be lifted (as they usually are on a Saturday), so you should be able to find centrally located parking.
- There will also be ample parking available at the Faculty of Engineering. This parking area is accessible from Bosman Street and is within walking distance from all the other Stellenbosch-based faculties as well.
- To be safe, do not leave any valuables inside your vehicle in plain sight of passers-by.
- Please do not park on sidewalks or in non-designated parking areas, as this might attract a fine from municipal law enforcement.
- Note that there may be sporting events taking place at the Coetzenburg sport complex, which might affect traffic flow to and from Stellenbosch. Please allow sufficient time to get to your venues.
- If you choose to park around the Coetzenburg sport complex, look out for the shuttle service running to and from the central campus.
Tygerberg:
- Please enter through the main campus entrance. Ample parking is available close to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences' Education building, where most of the day's activities will take place.
