Outcome: Convocation Election process
Dear Members of the Convocation
My sincere gratitude to all members who participated in the voting process to elect persons to serve on the Convocation Executive Committee. As communicated earlier, all five (5) positions on the Convocation Executive Committee were vacant. We followed the Procedure to nominate and elect the Convocation Executive Committee (the Procedure) published on the Convocation website to direct the process.
In terms of paragraph 6.1 of the Procedure, my Office notified the successful candidates that they had been appointed and thanked those candidates who made themselves available for this election but were unsuccessful.
We hereby announce the outcome of the election.
We had a total of 3943 votes cast – this is a 2.06% voter participation rate.
The votes were cast as follows:

Mr Johan Acker Smit (3021 votes, 76.6%)

Mr Bernard Pieters (2996 votes, 76%)
Additional members:
Mr Jan Naude de Villiers (2537 votes, 33.7%);
Mrs Isabelle de Taillefer (2282 votes, 30.3%)
In terms of paragraph 4.1.1 of the Mandate of the Convocation (available on the Convocation website), “the Convocation Executive Committee helps the Convocation achieve its objective and perform its function. It gives effect to decisions of the Convocation.”
We thank all candidates who made themselves available for these positions and wish the Executive Committee well in fulfilling its mandate.
