"There was a very nice vibe and the whole experience left one with a positive frame of mind," said a visitor about his experience at the Faculty of Engineering during the Stellenbosch University Open Day on 24 February. "They answered all my questions fully and were extremely enthusiastic. It was very well organised and is clearly a most professional setup," this satisfied visitor added.

For the past couple of years, this Faculty has been presenting successful annual Open Days. The secret behind the success is the great team effort by dedicated personnel and students who market their Faculty and the engineering profession with great passion.

As usual the dozens of exhibits and demonstrations presented by the five engineering departments were a great hit. The information sessions regarding the Faculty's degree programs and the engineering profession were also well attended.

The interactive demonstrations were especially popular! Photo left: Elaine Goosen (PhD student and part-time lecturer) explains to a budding young "engineer" the complex change in viscosity that occurs in bitumen, a non-Newtonian fluid.
