Research by Dr Eleanor Ochodo, a senior scientist at the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, looking at  new malaria tests has shown that overtreatment of this disease can be reduced by 95% in Sub-Saharan Africa. Extensive logistical, behavioural and technical interventions may be required to achieve this. An article, entitled "Achieving universal testing for malaria" was published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) today.
