The Department of Microbiology is celebrating the Faculty of Science's centenary with a living display of the numerous microorganisms that contributed to the discipline of microbiology over the years. The display is in the form of the SU centenary logo and will be on show in a glass cabinet in the foyer of the JC Smuts building from 19-26 September. Come and follow this exciting live display of microorganisms in action as it will be constantly evolving as the microorganisms propagate.

The display was created by staff and students of the Department of Microbiology. 

The Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University is one of the four founding faculties of the University in 1918. The Department of Microbiology was established in 1961 with Professor Hennie Louw as its first Head of Department.
