Telematics is the blending of information and telecommunication technologies to convey information over large networks. This allows for students, irrespective of their locality, to interact with lecturers in fully interactive virtual learning spaces. Telematic Services manages a technology platform that integrates satellite, streaming and cell phone technology. The on-campus studio broadcasts to 22 remote-learning centres situated across Southern Africa, thousands of schools nationwide and livestreams across the world.
The telematic platform is also available to external clients, who can use it to enhance their corporate training, professional development offering and to host online conference and virtual events. The Telematics team is available to assist and guide clients on how to harness technology effectively for their specific needs. The centre offers various online conference and workshop possibilities and creates custom packages based on the clients' needs.
The broadcast studio has an experienced team and the equipment used is latest and most reliable equipment that aligns with the needs of clients. Our studio, in Admin A, is equipped with everything we need to produce excellent quality recordings and HD broadcasts, which includes HD cameras, LED lights and Shure microphones.
The revamped informal set has various backgrounds to create different sets dependent on the type of recording or event. The studio also has a lightboard to create a more scientific look to presentations which allows the clients to explain work to the students in neon colours. For any virtual venue or back drop, we can use the green screen to put you anywhere on earth – or space.
The studio personnel are also able to accommodate recordings or streaming outside the studio. The HD Panasonic mobile cameras and Canon Cinema EOS C200 brings technology to where it is needed. The live-stream service also includes a recording of the event, which can be edited and published afterwards.
