Two staff members of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences successfully completed their studies as part of Stellenbosch University's (SU) PLUS Programme.

Mrs Ursula Wanza, Assistant Departmental Officer of the Department of Economics, and Mr Denver Anthony, Departmental Officer of the Department of Business Management, received their certificates on Wednesday, 26 June 2019.

The Professional Learnerships University Stellenbosch (PLUS) programme utilises learnerships to enhance skills levels among personnel on administrative, secretarial and managerial levels. In a learnership, work experience is combined with structured learning.

As part of their career development, staff can obtain formal qualifications (on levels 3 to 5 of the National Qualifications Framework) that will stand them in good stead in all sectors of the economy.

Prof Christo Boshoff, Chair of the Department of Business Economics and Vice-Dean: Research, congratulated Mr Anthony and Mrs Wanza on behalf of the faculty. “They are now better equipped for their respective roles – and they have proof thereof."

According to Prof Andrie Schoombee, Chair of the Department of Economics, "These colleagues of ours can now accept greater responsibilities and show leadership."

Launched in 2006, the PLUS programme has given SU personnel the opportunity to hone their skills in inter alia secretarial and administrative work, team leadership, supervision, and management.
