Michiline Meyer and Wilmarie Grobbelaar from the School of Accountancy presented their research titled “Facilitating transformation in education: a multi-dimensional approach" at the 10th Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference (SOTL). Their presentation was on applying Social Capital Theory to model the Stellenbosch Thuthuka Bursary Programme. They highlighted how the programme's multi-dimensional approach, both financial and non-financial, aids in ensuring the greater success of students in the programme. Their abstract was nominated, by the SoTL 2017 Abstract Review Committee, as potential prize winners for best presentation and they received a certificate and book prize for being one of the Top 6 abstracts at the conference.
