Stellenbosch University Staff wins Best Contribution to System Dynamics Field Award

Dr Josephine Kaviti Musango won the Best Contribution to the field of System Dynamics Award at the 4th Annual System Dynamics Conference (4ASDC), held on 17-18 November 2016. The contribution to the Field of System Dynamics Award recognize individuals whose body of work has contributed to defining the field.

For the last 10 years, Dr Musango has been utilising system dynamics modelling in understanding resource management and policy related challenges including energy assessment, resource flows analysis, technology assessment, green economy and African urban resources issues.

Dr Musango is an active member of International System Dynamics Society, and has been contributing to the Society as an author and reviewer of the annual conference papers since 2009. She also, together with Prof Alan Brent of Industrial Engineering, introduced two System Dynamics Modelling Modules at the School of Public Leadership's Sustainable Development Programme, namely: (i) Introduction to System Dynamics Modelling, in 2010; and (ii) Advanced System Dynamics Modelling, in 2015.

Dr Musango was one of the Founding Members of South Africa System Dynamics (SASD) Chapter which was established in 2014, and she has been serving as Organising Secretary. At the 4th Annual System Dynamics Conference, she had 7 co-authored papers which were presented.
