​Over 200 unique and rare species of plants have recently been collected for the SU Botanical Garden.   Several growers and botanical gardens, located in eight of the nine provinces, were visited and a distance of over 5000km was covered in 10 days.  Most plants collected are for the tropical greenhouse that will be opened to the public early next year.  Without the support of Westvaal this important plant collecting trip would not have been possible.  In the picture: Martin Smit (Curator - SU Botanical Garden) and Johan Bouwer (Owner, Obesa Nursery in Graaff Reinet).
