The Division for Learning and Teaching Enhancement (DLTE) recently launched a podcast series discussing transformative assessment practices at SU on the talks@stellenboschuni podcast. Hosted by dr Hanelie Adendorff from the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Elzette le Roux, this series is a vital component of the institutional assessment project aimed at transforming the assessment culture on campus.
The podcast series, aptly titled Talking Transformative Assessment, features engaging discussions with colleagues from different centra, faculties and diverse backgrounds. By exploring assessment from various angles, and tapping into the collective wisdom of our academic community, the series seeks to challenge conventional norms and usher in new, innovative ways of thinking about student assessment. Some of the episode listeners can look forward to, include “The 'science' of alternative assessment approaches" and “Is ChatGPT and AI the end of assessment as we know it?".
Through this initiative, Stellenbosch University aims to foster a culture of open dialogue and critical thinking surrounding student assessment. With its mission to inspire thoughtful assessment design, this podcast series invites all to join the conversation and actively shape the future of assessment within the university. Tune in to talks@stellenboschuni on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts, and be a part of the transformative journey in reassessing assessment practices in higher education.
