In the aftermath of the COVID-10 pandemic, millions of people worldwide are battling a not well understood phenomenon called long COVID – broadly defined as symptoms and conditions that continue or develop after acute COVID-19 infection. At the same time, infectious disease specialists are warning that the world should prepare for the next one. Will it be bird flu, another coronavirus or something else? In this Science Café Stellenbosch internationally recognised specialists Burtram Fielding, Tulio de Oliveira and Resia Pretorius address this dilemma. The conversation is moderated by Hugh Patterton, director of the Centre for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at SU.
More about the speakers:
Prof. Burtam Fielding is dean of the Faculty of Science at SU and an internationally-acknowledged expert on corona viruses.
