Workshop in August
The aim of the August 2023 online workshop will be to introduce participants to basic public speaking skills, to improve their oral presentations and to deliver academic knowledge/research content to different audiences. On completion of the two-day workshop, participants will have a good understanding of:
- The different types of academic speeches.
- Techniques to apply and to adapt for different speech/presentation delivery.
- Techniques to prepare for Q & A sessions.
- Activities to explore the type of speaker/communicator they are and areas to improve.
Cost
This workshop opportunity is funded by the Postgraduate Office. There is no cost involved for registered SU postgraduates who sign up and attend, however, in the case of late cancellations or non-attendance, applicants will be responsible for the full workshop fee since late cancellations and non-attendance have considerable cost implications for our office.
Target audience
SU Master's and doctoral candidates primarily.

Online course format 2-Day workshop in August
Two-day virtual workshop: Mini-lecture sessions with interactive virtual discussions between facilitator and participants, and engaged practical sessions/activities and feedback in between the live sessions.
Time: 09:00-12:30
Please note, as this is an interactive workshop you must be available to attend both days.
