WORKSHOP: RESEARCH PROPOSAL PRESENTATION: MTh HEALTH, GENDER AND THEOLOGY

Exploring the intersection health, gender and theology

The Church of Sweden has challenged a number of Theological institutions in Africa to reflect on issues relating to the intersection of health, gender and Theology within the African context. As a response to this challenge the Faculty of Theology at Stellenbosch University has launched within the MTh program the special focus study area Health and Gender. Ten students were selected across the main theological disciplines to academically explore the intersection of these themes.

As part of the ongoing process of creating a collaborative peer centered learning space a research proposal presentation workshop is planned for 18 to 19 May 2015 at the Hofmeyr lecture room of the Faculty. Apart from student presentations a number of scholars working within the field of health, gender and Theology will also participate in the workshop.  We will be joined by staff from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Dr. Adriaan van Klinken from Leeds University.

We hereby invite anyone who is interested in these themes to join the workshop and participate in the creative conversation. For further information contact Dr Charlene van der Walt, charlenevanderwalt@sun.ac.za or 083 693 8686.
