Welcome to Stellenbosch University

Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA)

The Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) has been a partner of Stellenbosch University since March 2012 when the Bishop of False Bay co-signed an agreement of understanding. The formal partnership was the culmination of Anglican involvement in ecumenical projects in the Faculty of Theology since 1998. Unlike the three other church partners who use the Faculty to train their students for the ordained ministry, Anglicans who study theology are regarded as a nursery from which graduates are recruited for a vocation to holy orders. These recruits become ordinands after a rigorous discernment process. Ordinands attend the College of the Transfiguration in Grahamstown for one to two years for residential and Anglican confessional formation.
