Programme for Health Professional Training​

P4HPT (Programme for Health Professional Training) is an African Mobility Scheme funded by the EACEA (the EU's Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency), under the umbrella of Intra-ACP mobility (i.e. countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific). The P4HPT represents a consortium of eleven African higher education institutions (HEIs):

2.   Makerere University, Uganda

3.   Uganda Martyrs University

4.   Stellenbosch University (SU), South Africa

5.   University of Nairobi, Kenya

6.   Moi University, Kenya

7.   Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique

8.   University of Burundi

9.   University of Juba, South Sudan

10. University of Lesotho

11. Catholic University of Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo

The programme is designed to promote student exchange – primarily between P4HPT partners (Target Group 1), although it provides for academic mobility for applicants from outside the consortium (Target Group 2), too.

• Target group 1 (TG1)

Persons in this target group are nationals or residents of one of the partner countries above, and registered at or admitted to one of the HEIs above or have obtained a degree from one of them. Mobility flows, therefore, inside the consortium, from one P4HPT HEI towards another P4HPT HEI in another partner country.

TG 1 applicants, therefore, must be nationals or residents in one of the countries listed above (i.e. Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, South Sudan or Uganda) and be registered at or admitted to any one of the eleven P4HPT HEIs listed above or have obtained a degree from them.

• Target Group 2 (TG2)

Persons in this target group must be nationals or residents of one of the partner countries above, and either (1) be registered at or admitted to an HEI which is situated in one of the partner countries but which is not one of the eleven P4HPT partners or (2) have obtained an HEI or equivalent degree from an institution in a country listed below. Mobility, therefore, flows from outside the consortium towards a P4HPT HEI.

TG2 applicants must be nationals or residents of one of the following countries:

To be eligible for the scholarship, master's and doctoral students must:

1. be a national or resident of any of the P4HPT partner countries;
2. for TG 1 applications – registered at or admitted to one of the eleven HEIs that are P4HPT partners at the time of application for the scholarship;
3. for TG 2 applications – registered at or admitted to an HEI in one of the countries included in the Intra-ACP call;
   have sufficient knowledge of the language in which courses are offered at the host HEI.
