It is with deep sadness that the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences learnt of the passing of Prof Bongani Khumalo (68) after contracting Covid-19.
Prof Khumalo was a founding member of the Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management. In his capacity as extraordinary professor, he was a key asset to the Centre for over 20 years and played a pivotal role in terms of strategy and marketing.
According to Mrs Vuyiseka Dubula-Majola, Director of the Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management, “He offered invaluable guidance to the academic and social impact programmes and provided insight into the impact of the socio-economic and political context on the world of work and HIV."
Prof Khumalo was passionate about creating sustainable economic development and growth as well as lasting socio-political stability and solidarity in Africa.
“We have lost an extraordinary professor and mentor. He will be sorely missed," Mrs Dubula-Majola said.
