Dear students
As we start off with the second week of 2021. Let me take this time to wish you all the best for 2021.
If 2020 taught us anything, it has taught us the preciousness of life and the importance of community and family.
I would therefore like to offer my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all students who have lost loved ones and friends to COVID – 19 during the past 10 months. We urge students to comply with COVID-19 protocols, including the wearing of a face-mask, physical distancing, hand sanitising, limits on the number of persons in a confined space and to regularly check the Stellenbosch University (click here) for regular Communiques and Campus Updates on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The start of a new academic year offers us new possibilities and opportunities to not only acquire a higher level of knowledge in the field of choice, but also the opportunity to acquire a new skills such as conducting a full conference via Online platforms (in the case of myself), time management ,etc.
I would like to welcome all our new students both undergraduate and postgraduate who will be starting a new academic programmes and also welcome back existing students within our programmes who will be completing their course or completing their second or third year this year. Please note, if you have any questions or uncertainties regarding the programme you're attending, contact the SPL, our staff is more than willing to assist.
To reiterate the words of our Rector Prof Wim De Villiers and I quote “ None of us can foretell the future, but we can draw strength from knowing that we will be there for each other, come what may. Let's go forward together, masiye pamphili, saam vorentoe!"
I wish you all the best.
