Assessment, Learning, and AI: New Short Course Now Open for Registration

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is excited to introduce Assessment, Learning, and AI, a new short course designed to help Stellenbosch University staff navigate the evolving landscape of teaching, learning, and assessment in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). Building on insights from previous short courses on assessment and AI literacy in higher education (HE), this course provides a cohesive platform for reimagining assessment as a central component of the teaching and learning process.

Guided by the Stellenbosch University Assessment Policy (2021) and the Interim guidelines for allowable AI use (2023), participants will engage with core principles such as constructive alignment, feedback, and peer/self-assessment. They will also critically explore the impact of generative AI in the context of academic integrity, assessment design, and enhancing student learning.

Through a blend of face-to-face sessions, online collaboration, and asynchronous learning, this NQF level 8 short course equips lecturers with innovative strategies to design resilient and authentic assessments that foster meaningful learning in an AI-enhanced world. The short course is offered free of charge to SU staff and runs in both semesters. This six-credit short course will require 60 notional hours of work.

Don’t miss this opportunity to future-proof your assessment practices!
