The “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" is a worldwide strategy that was approved by the United Nations in 2015. The plan focuses on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which tackle various global challenges and aim to promote sustainable and inclusive development. Here, we consider the Italian Strategy for Sustainable Development (see SDGs 2021 Report: Statistical information for the 2030 Agenda in Italy, published by the Italian Statistical Institute –ISTAT-) which concerns the measurement of the sustainable development across the Italian regions.

Our research focuses on studying the dependence relationship between the indicators of Goal 10, which concern the social-economic inequality, and the indicators of Goals 3, 4, and 8 related to the socio-economic determinants.

To study this dependence relationship between different response variables and explicative variables (highly correlated), we consider different suitable regression models, like the linear Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression compared to the Ridge Regression and to the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression, as well as the Functional Partial Least Squares regression.  MS Teams: LINK (also included at the end of the email)
