In this Science Café, SU alumni Allison Wyngaardt and Anishka le Roux will share their cancer treatment journey as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. While Allison has six months left of her five-year treatment plan, Anishka has just embarked on the same journey. Both believe that better understanding the treatment options gave them as patients more hope for recovery.

In response to their experience, two experts will talk about the latest developments in breast cancer research and treatment. They are Prof. Anna-Mart Engelbrecht, head of the breast cancer research group in the Department of Physiological Sciences, Faculty of Science, and Prof. Karin Baatjes, Vice Dean: Teaching and Learning and associate professor in Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Science Café Stellenbosch is an initiative of the Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University to promote the discussion of scientific issues in the public domain, and in a language that everyone can understand. Attendance is free.

Please join us for light refreshments after the talk. RSVP at science@sun.ac.za by19 October 2023.
