The Centre for Student Counselling and Development (CSCD) forms part of the Division of Student Affairs. In the CSCD there are five Units – the Unit for Psychotherapeutic and Support Services, the Unit for Academic Counselling and Development, the Unit for Graduand Career Services, the Disability Unit and the Equality Unit. Each unit provides students with specialised support and services. The Equality Unit provides additional support to staff.
The Disability Unit assists prospective and current students with disabilities. Support includes innovative academic solutions, advice on assistive technology and prioritised accommodation for specific disabilities.
The Equality Unit provides services including training, counselling, and facilitating the reporting of incidents of unfair discrimination and harassment related to the LGBTQIA+ community, HIV, sexualities, gender-based and gender non-violence.
The Unit for Academic Counselling and Development equips students with the necessary skills to reach their potential, offering various services including counselling and work sessions focused on academic success.
The services of the Unit for Graduand Career Services are geared towards supporting registered SU students to make the transition from education to employment.
The Unit provides students who have psychological, emotional, personal and social needs with individual and group counselling interventions and social work services.
