​​​​​​​​​​​​WORK SESSIONS

The Unit offers several work sessions that will assist you to manage time and stress, prepare for tests and exams, and develop better study techniques.

Self-management (i-App)

The iApp work session is a mediated, self-reflective session that focuses on promoting self-management skills such as identifying your personal areas of growth, setting personal and academic goals, and guidance to promote positive health and wellbeing.

Time management (i-Tick)

Time management sessions will assist you to manage your time better by teaching you the necessary skills and strategies to improve, adjust and enhance the way you manage your time. 

Stress management (i-Steer)

This session promotes healthy stress management skills and assists you with developing them. Once you have completed the session, you will be equipped to understand and manage stress; identify physical, emotional, mental and behavioural symptoms of stress; and know when to seek professional help to alleviate stress.

Study skills (i-Kit)

The Study skills session closely looks at your current study strategies and skills to better understand where and how you can improve, enhance and adjust for a better outcome.

Be exam ready (i-Prep)

The Be exam ready work session will equip you with different memory techniques, and help you to identify study areas of growth, understand the difference between good and bad stress, and help you prioritise tasks. In addition, it will expose you to effective methods for preparing for the exams and help you improve your coping mechanisms during exam time.

How to apply

Due to COVID-19 and lockdown, all our work sessions will take place online. If you would like to participate in any of our work sessions e-mail us at studysuccess@sun.ac.za. Work sessions are free.​ ​You can also schedule an intake session with one of our professional counsellors or psychologists who will assess you to determine the type of support needed. We also encourage students to first join the iApp session before requesting individual support.
