The main purpose of the Thuthuka programme is to develop research capacity by helping early-career academics to attain a doctoral qualification or an NRF rating. Thuthuka funding spans three to nine years, depending on the award level. The focus is on improving the research capacity of designated researchers, although applications from all ethnic or gender groups are considered.
Eligibility Criteria:
- SU staff younger than 45, pursuing PhD studies or within 5 years after obtaining a PhD.
This is a call-based application that is made available annually between May and July.
