Subcommittee B of the Research Committee is committed to building new research capacity and therefore provides funding towards the research projects of young researchers. This funding is often offered as co-funding for NRF Thuthuka applications, but young researchers who do not qualify for Thuthuka funding, may apply directly to Subcommittee B. Young researchers are defined as persons currently enrolled for a doctoral degree or having received their doctoral degree within the past five years. All applicants must be full-time permanent employees of the University.
