The first Postdoctoral Conference of Southern Africa will be hosted by
Stellenbosch University in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the
University. The aim of the conference is to bring together young
researchers from all fields of research to create an
interdisciplinary forum and emphasize the importance of postdoctoral
fellows to drive research for 100 years into the future.
The conference will take place
03-05 October 2018 in Stellenbosch (South Africa). The first day (03
October) will be the arrival day and an opening cocktail in the
evening shall bring together all participants. The following two days
(04-05 October) are open to talks in breakaway sessions, posters and
Postdoctoral fellows from
Southern Africa may apply for talks, posters and workshops with any
subject as long as it is related to their research. The abstract should be maximum 500 words.
Talks are meant to present
research of various fields to a broader audience in interdisciplinary
breakaway sessions. The duration of the talks will be 10-15 minutes
The workshops will allow the applicant to
present a research problem and receive input from an
interdisciplinary audience, initiating future collaborations. The
duration of the workshops will be 30-60 minutes and shall begin with
a short introduction to the problem followed by a discussion.
Posters will be presented
throughout the whole conference, a time slot of 2 hours will be
reserved for discussions.
Deadline for abstract submission
will be 30 June 2018, deadline for registration will be 31 August
2018. Note that the payment must be received before the registration deadline on the 31st of August. Details on how to do the payment will be announced soon.
The cost for participation will
be R1500 per delegate and includes the opening cocktail and catering
at the venue (excl. breakfast/dinner). Travel and accommodation will have to be
organized and paid by the attendees. A list of accommodations will be attached shortly. The
