This Chair was endowed by the Oppenheimer Foundation with the aim to contribute to deepening a human rights culture in South Africa through high-quality research and contributing to public debate and advocacy on human rights. The Chair was founded with the purpose of promoting the development of human rights law in South African through the three main pillars of academic endeavour – research, teaching, and community interaction.
