Is there a cost involved to attend SU Postgraduate Skills Development Programme workshops?
Workshops are free of charge for registered SU students and for staff members. However, there is a cost involved if participants register for a workshop and do not attend without timely cancellation. 


Does the Postgraduate Office sponsor departmental research-related workshops run by external facilitators?
Unfortunately, the Postgraduate Office is generally unable to provide sponsorship for departmental research-related workshops except for on occasions when additional capacity development funds are available. It is advised that students request this type of support from their department or supervisor.


Does the Postgraduate Skills Development Programme sponsor individual postgraduates to attend research-related workshops run by the African Doctoral Academy, for example?
Unfortunately, in general the Postgraduate Skills Development Programme is unable to provide sponsorship for other research-related workshops, except for on occasions when additional capacity development funds are available. It is advised that students request this type of support from their department or supervisor.

Does the Postgraduate Skills Development Programme support SU academic staff too?
Yes, most of the Programme's workshops and events are open to both SU staff and postgraduate students. 


May external postgraduate students attend SU Postgraduate Skills Development Programme workshops?
External participants may not attend the PG Skills workshops. External participants are encouraged to enrol for the Language Centre's Writing Lab workshops, the African Doctoral School's Summer of Winter schools and other SU short courses that are geared towards external interested parties.
