In 2017, the first Collembola collection and identification workshop was hosted by the IPM Initiative, and presented by Dr. Charlene Janion-Scheepers, South Africa's leading Collembola expert.
Collembola are an important component of soil biodiversity for which very little expertise exists in the world.
This workshop included lectures, field trips, and practical laboratory sessions on the topics of Collembola extraction, sorting and slide-preparation. Workshop participants gained the skills and resources to conduct all aspects of Collembola research.
