South African school system
- Final Grade 11 assessment: School results as per the Department of Education guidelines.
International school system
- Pre-final (Grade 11) results received from the issuing body: If you are enrolled in an international school system, for example, Cambridge, International Baccalaureate (IB) or a USA High School Diploma, you must apply using your pre-final (Grade 11) results, as well as;
- Final-year subjects with levels: Please also supply an official list of subjects taken in the final year of school (grade 12/13) with levels for the official subjects, including rewrites (confirmed by the school), e.g. a report, a letter from the school or a statement of entry.

ALREADY COMPLETED SCHOOL
It usually is only possible to apply for a formal certificate of University Exemption during your first year of registration, so you might not yet have it available when you register for the first time. You will, however, be able to register, if you qualify for Matriculation Exemption as assessed by the University.

Proof of registration
Official proof of registration from the tertiary institution which includes your subjects/modules for the current year you are enrolled for with provisional grades if available at the time of application.
Academic record
Full academic transcript for each academic year completed.
We will unfortunately not be able to accept online results/documents obtained from self-service portals.
PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED/REGISTERED FOR ONE OR MORE TERTIARY QUALIFICATIONS AT A TERTIARY INSTITUTION
(INCLUDING STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY)
Degree(s), Diploma(s) and Certificate(s)
An official copy of the qualification(s) you’ve completed is required if you have graduated already.
A Proof of completion will be accepted temporarily if you have completed the qualification but have yet to graduate. For international qualifications, the proof of completion should not be older than five years from the date the degree was conferred. For South African Higher Education Institutions, proof of completion should not be older than one year.
Academic record
An official copy of your full academic record (each year of enrolment), whether the qualification was completed or not, is required.
NON-ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS WE COULD REQUIRE
Student Support Form: Applicable to all students with one or more disabilities who needs additional support.
Immigration Status Permit: Your proof of permanent residency, refugee, or asylum-seeking status if you are not a South African citizen.
Visual Arts Portfolio: All applicants applying to BA Visual Arts are required to send their completed portfolio to visualartapplication@sun.ac.za no later than 1 September.
Student contract: If you accept any offer made to you by Stellenbosch University, you will be required to submit a contract upon acceptance.
Make sure your electronic copies are clear and legible and that we can easily read everything on the page. If we can't, we will ask you to resubmit the document, which will slow down your application. We prefer PDF documents, but you can also upload doc, docx, jpg, jpeg, and png files. We cannot consider applications if we don't receive them by the closing date.
